Knitting can save your life!

Quake funerals begin in Italy as more bodies found - Boston.com

How 'bout that? A 98 year old woman knitted in the rubble of the recent earthquake in Italy. She knit for 30 hours!

Well guys...... I'm sick. My husband is out of town and I'm home with my boys. It always seems to happen like this. Ah, but such is life.

I missed a week, but I can assure you that nothing noteworthy happened in my life. Wait... not true. I finished my Drop-Stitch Lace Tank last week!

This week, I finished my Ginkgo Socks.

So now I'm focused on finishing my Woodland Shawl and a pair of socks of Bean.

Hope you all have have a wonderful Easter. Don't forget to give thanks for the ultimate sacrifice!

Fridays are s'possed to be fun :-(

141.8 lbs :-(

There..... The unpleasantries are out of the way. Let me just say this before I move on. I guaran-dang-tee ya that my weight WILL NOT begin with "14_" next week. I'm mad as heck and I'm not gonna eat junk anymore.

So, why (else) is my Friday not fun? Stinkin' "WINTER STORM WATCH". Huh? Isn't it Spring? Apparently not. Not that I have anything against snow, but this weekend is MOPACA and The Yarn Shop Hop. I had planned to drown my sorrows in squishy yarn goodness. ~Sigh~

All is not lost, though. Last week I received my Knit Picks goodie box (I forgot to mention that last week).

Here's the pic I promised of my "Puff Band".

And.... I'm almost done with my Dropped Stitch Tank (Vest) :-}. Looks like I'll be snowed in this weekend, but at least I have some pretty yarn to play with and good podcasts to listen to (yes, shameless self promotion).

Whatever... It's Friday (pay day, knit day....)

Welp, another Friday..... Let's get on with it, shall we:

I weigh 140.2 lbs (again)
Hips - 40 "
Thighs - 24 "
Waist - 28 "
Bust - 29 "

I'll spare you the exscu....err um... reasons why the weight is the same. However, it may useful to note that I did start loading creatine this week :-}

On to something I can be proud of.... knitting!

I finished my "Puff Band" (actually the Lace Ribbon Scarf pattern by Veronik Avery). I rocked it yesterday and got a compliment literally as I stepped into the door of my office building :-}

I cast on the Drop Stitch Lace Tank by Stephanie Japel and am already 1/3 done. I'm doing this in Frog Tree Merino and It is so soft. I am gonna love it!

Still working on my Woodland Shawl, but I must say progress has slowed. I'm about 40% done.

This weekend I plan to cast on a new pair of socks (gotta knit socks while I'm on the bike at the gym) and a baby sweater for my neighbor's grandbaby.

Maybe I should create a plan and..um.. follow it?

You know what's coming.... it's Friday, and once again I must come to grips with the reality of my poor nutritional choices.

This morning that mean nasty scale read: 140.2 lbs. Criminy! This week (and I mean it this time) I have GOT to get this nutrition stuff together.

My workouts have been AWESOME, so I'm not totally disappointed. In fact, I start teaching an aerobics class at church tomorrow! (If you live in the area and wish to attend, please see www.movedbyfaith.com for more info)

Now on to KNITTING! Boy do I love knitting! I finished the Nutkin socks for Cindy :-}

Hope she likes them.
Still trucking along on the Woodland shawl and I started a version of "Lace Ribbon Scarf" by Veronik Avery, except my will be used to frame my lovely head (modest, ain't I?). I'm also contemplating starting a top or vest with some of my stash yarn. My buddy Scott was nice enough to check "Runway Knits" out for me at the library, so I know I'll be inspired.

Not bad....I guess

Another Friday already? I guess I have to weigh in ..... and measure.....

I weigh 139.8 lbs (again)
Hips - 40 "
Thighs - 24 "
Waist - 28 "
Bust - 29 "

All in all no significant changes, but at least I haven't gained weight.

My goals last week were:
1) Plan all meals
2) Increase water intake

I did neither, so I have the same goals this week.

On to the KNITTING! :-}
I am past the heel on the second Nutkin sock, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've now completed 2 ft on the Woodland Shawl so that's a little more than 1/3 completed length. Once again I haven't touched the M-I-L Cowlette. Maybe I'll do a couple rows tomorrow.

Oh yeah! We got paid today, so I get to buy yarn! Yeah :-}

Slackage... I'll admit it

I admit it. I was slacking on the nutrition front this week. I made several (read a WHOLE LOT) of poor food choices this week and was generally unprepared. As we know... failure to plan is planning to fail.

As a result..... I gained a couple pounds; bringing my weight back up to 139.8. :-(

However, I'm not gonna throw in the towel. In fact my measurements have remained the same and by golly I've worked too hard. And I do commend myself for staying on track in the fitness department. In fact I'm going to start loading creatine this weekend and add another day of weight training as I'm getting my gym groove back :)

So, my goals for next week:
1) Plan all meals
2) Increase water intake

On the knitting side I have been slacking too. Not even halfway done the second Nutkin sock, but I do have about 4 inches completed. My Woodland Shawl is almost 33% complete. I haven't even touched my M-I-L Cowlette, though.

I'm hoping to get some progress on the Nutkin tonight when I meet up with BCWS.

Slow and steady wins the race

Things are moving along. It's Friday so I weighed in. It's also the 2 week mark to I measured as well.....

I weigh 138lbs (down 5lbs)
Hips - 40.25 "
Thighs - 24 "
Waist - 28 " (down 1 inch)
Bust - 29 "

So I must say I'm pleased with the results of my efforts.

On the knitting front..... I have 12 inches completed on my Woodland Shawl! We have completed our Prayer Shawl*. And (I know.... you don't start a sentence with "and") I have 1 Nutkin sock completed. Not a bad week.

*I'll download the pics of the Prayer Shawl this weekend.
